There's a funny article in the Guardian today called Our Guilty Secrets: the books we only say we've read.
Come on then - fess up! Have you said you read something but didn't? I will fess up to saying I read Focault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco, when in fact I got half-way through, just grew bored of the book and read the final ten pages.
I feel quite happy saying I have read some Orwell but have no intention, ever, of reading War and Peace.
Read what interests you, I say, because there are so many books and just so little time really. It's hard enough keeping up with non-fiction.
